To buy animal, evaluate the babies and ask the breeder about baby care.
Litters consist of 2-5 babies; males do not take part in rearing the youth. Females make dens in hollow trees or holes and give birth to blind and slightly furred babies. At the age of 5-6 weeks their eyes open; at 3 months of age they are able to hunt on their own.

Martens mate in mid-summer; they are polygamous and mate with several partners during the breeding season. This species has a delayed implantation, which is common in the weasel family.
